Color study, spring edition
A lighter edit of things I’m drawn to right now
There's a particular shade of spring that exists only in my head — sun-warmed and unhurried, a little nostalgic, slightly impractical in the most appealing way. It's where laundry dries slowly in a garden instead of a machine, everything a little soft and slow, like butter melting on a warm day. This edit is my attempt at building that world, or at least collecting small pieces of it. Pale yellows and artichoke greens, cornflower blues, the quiet pleasure of sipping iced tea from beautiful Japanese glassware while the afternoon stretches on. I hope you'll indulge me and daydream a little in this world.
1. DÔEN top — Just the right amount of delicate and romantic, with an easy drape that makes it feel effortless. Perfect for a warm evening. And as a chronic light packer, I'm always drawn to pieces that fold down to nothing.
2. Simuero necklace — I recently bought a Simuero ring at Bassal Store in Barcelona and haven't taken it off since. I’d love to add a few more pieces of theirs to the collection. I love the organic shapes and that softly pooled, almost melted-metal feel.
3. Flared vase — I finally stopped by Nickey Kehoe while in NYC the other day, though it had long been on my radar. Probably for the best that I hadn’t visited sooner, because I essentially wishlisted everything — including this lovely, simple vase (which, thankfully, won’t break the bank).
4. LESET windbreaker — A windbreaker the color of pure sunshine (or an egg yolk, I'll let you decide 🙂). Cut in a beautifully garment-washed cotton with a billowy silhouette. How could anyone argue with that?
5. Lion soap — I'll absolutely be upgrading my bar soap to these little pieces of art. The packaging alone deserves a spot on the bathroom shelf.
6. Baina bath towels — The cornflower blue that inspired this whole edit, honestly. Hanging on a line in a garden feels like the only correct way to dry these. And I’m a sucker for a grid design, always.
7. Valesque bag — I’m really into pink right now, and this dusty rose bag from a new-to-me brand, Valesque, is calling my name. Unfussy and functional, with those perfectly long straps.
8. Lore fragrance — More yellow! In fragrance form. Rose milk and candied pistachio that twists into patchouli, oud, and amber resin. Lovely and a little twisted, which is exactly the kind of spring scent I’m into right now.
9. Chan Luu bandana — Obsessed with this embroidered floral bandana. In your hair, tied to a bag, folded into a pocket — the most versatile thing in this entire edit. I want every color.
10. Ancient Greek jelly flip flop — A childhood silhouette, but refined. Equal parts playful and strangely chic.
11. Japanese tea glass — Cold brew, iced green tea, whatever you’re sipping — it just tastes better in a beautiful glass. The coaster seals the deal.
12. Silk boxers — The line between loungewear and actual dressing has never felt more pleasantly blurred. These also make me want mint ice cream.
13. Celisse quick coat — A polish that goes with everything — essentially your own nails, but better.
14. 6397 tank in Asparagus — Artichoke, asparagus, call it what you want — this green is the color of the season. It’s already got me: I bought this Still Here top not too long ago and am now seeing the color everywhere.
15. The Seasonal Gardener — Are you sick of me talking about gardens yet? It may be a hint as to what’s to come in my life. In the meantime, I need to start bulking up on gardening inspiration (and actual how-tos).
16. TOTEME pumps — A gorgeous slingback silhouette in a blush that’s almost too pretty to wear outside. Almost.
17. Chanel lipstick — I’m one of those people completely swayed by product names, so a lipstick titled “See you at 5” won me over before the color even did — and the color is, in fact, amazing.
A bit of a palate cleanser — something lighter and easier to scroll through. Mostly, I hope it offers a few ideas for color, texture, and small updates as we move into the season (though, the day I’m writing this, the real feel was 22°F with 26mph wind gusts — I know, I sound like a broken record, but I am over this winter).
I’m embarking on another leg of my crazy travels. Let’s see what kind of life overhaul this one inspires.
